  • If it’s wide open spaces, amazing views, and an exhilarating 4×4 Namibian adventure that you’re after, then Fish River Lodge is definitely for you.

Just getting to Fish River Lodge is an adventure in itself, as the 19km access road passes through river beds and across open plains edged with rugged mountains, where you may glimpse Kudu and Ostrich in the dry river beds.

    Fish River Lodge Namibia View

Making the most of the beautiful vistas, the Fish River Lodge has been built in harmony with its stark, striking surroundings. Completed in 2009, all the buildings that make up the lodge pay tribute to the amazing landscape, offering spectacular views of the Fish River Canyon from sunrise to sunset.

    Accommodation

Positioned to take full advantage of the spectacular view over the world’s second largest canyon, the main lodge is flanked on either side by 20 private chalets dotted along the edge of the canyon cliff face. The lodge features a rim pool with a spacious wooden deck where breakfasts are served, whilst candlelit dinners are served in the dining area. Contemporary designer furniture blends with antiques and locally sourced handicraft to create an authentic ambiance, while crackling fires warm the interior.

The beds in each chalet have been placed to allow guests a prime spot from which to gaze over the canyon and feature outdoor decks and showers, and large bathrooms with double basins. Each chalet also has an outdoor platform for sleeping under the stars on warm nights and is also ideal for yoga enthusiasts.

    Eco Friendly

Sustainability is a key consideration at Fish River Lodge and the 45 000ha Canyon Nature Park, so best practices are constantly assessed to ensure that only the lightest of footprints are left on the surrounding landscape, flora and fauna. Established guidelines ensure that damage to the environment (including roads) is limited, landscaping and gardening plans are compliant with the region’s biodiversity, and water usage is optimized. In addition, wastewater is minimized and together with solid waste, disposed of in a designated manger.
